Day 26 - Did you know...

.....how Andal explains “3 Tatvams” with the verse “Varuthamum theernthu” [paasuram : 25: Oruthi maganaai] of “Thiruppavai”?

3 Tatvams:
  • Chith - Sentient soul.
  • Achith - Insentient matter.
  • Iswaran - Emperumaan Sriman Narayanan - Seshii (master- owner) for both Chit and Achith.
To Compare :

"Varuthamum theernthu magizhnthu yelor em paavai"
"வருத்தமும் தீர்ந்து மகிழ்ந்தேலோரெம்பாவாய்"

Generally “varuthamum” refers to “sorrow / problems”. Here,

“varutham “ ---> Aiswarya anubhavam (Materialistic pleasures enjoyed with our sense organs).
“varuthamum” ---> Includes Kaivalyam (A Soul enjoying itself ).
“varuthamum theernthu” -----> to get rid of “Aiswaryam ” and “kaivalyam”
“magizhnthu” (மகிழ்ந்து) ------> “Purushaartham” - to enjoy Kalyana gunas of Perumal and performing Service to Him (Kainkaryam) so as to please HIM.

Thus it implies the “3 tatvams” and the conduct of a Srivaishnavite which is to get rid of the unnecessary interests (mentioned above) and perform Sarangathi at the lotus feet of Srimann Narayanan and seek HIS Kainkaryams.
