Day 16 - Did you know...

….that during the month of Margazhi, “Thiruppavai” is played in lieu of Suprabhatham in Thirupathi?
It is a practice in Thirupathi to play “Thiruppavai” in lieu of Suprabhatham during the month of Margazhi.
Sri Venkatesa Suprabhatham is composed by Prathivathi Bayankaram anna at the request of his Acharyan, Sri Manavaala Maamunigal. The divine inspiration for Sri Anna came from Thondaradi podi azwar’s “Thirupalli ezhuchi” and some of Andal’s “Thiruppavai” paasurams..

It is interesting to note that :

• Thiruppavai is also a suprabhatham to Lord Krishna in one sense.
• Venkatesa suprabhatham has 29 slokas, just like Thiruppavai without Palasruthi slokam (Vanga kadal kalaintha).

Andal kalyanam is celebrated on the very next day of Pongal in Thirupathi.
