Day 7, Godha Weaves a Vow(English Poem)

At the awakening of dawn
To the maiden still asleep
She again voices her appeal-

“ Oh maiden of ignorance
The shrill melodies
Of that ‘ Bharadhwaja’ bird
Can you not but hear ?

Can you not hear
The jingle of their jewels
Those cowherd’s queens
From whose locks of flower
Such fragrance springs

The rhythm that they earn
Of the dowel
From which they churn
The curd to be ?

Oh crown of the maidens
How do you rest unmoved on bed
While you hear
‘Kesava’His very name being sung
Oh the gloried one
Awake you now
And undo the gates
For the awakening to come.”
