Introduction:
In the first Paasuram we saw Prapya, Prapaga and Adhigari Swaroopam
In the second we saw the Swaroopa Dharma of such an Bhagavathas
In the third we saw the prosperiety that results because of the Anushtanams(Actions) of such Bhagavathas
In the fourth we saw how even the demi gods will come to the service of such a Bhagavadha
In the fifth we saw how any harm will vanish like a cotton in fire for such Bhagavathas

In the next 10 Paasurams Aandal tries to wake up 10 types of girls (representatives of such types) so they can go together to enjoy the Darshan of Shri Krishna

In this paasuram we will see that Aacharya Sambandham is the key for attaining Moksha.  However good one be in the deeds (Anushtanams, Karma, Gyanan & Bhakthi) if there is no Aacharya Sambandham, there will not be Moksham and for those with Aacharya Sambandham, even if Karma, Gnyana and Bakthi are missing they will come together because of such a relationship with Aacharyan.

Meaning:
This Paasuram has indepth sampradhaya meaning. Adiyen will try to explain them with the help of Poorvacharyas granthas and the examples that they have quoted in this to explain the "real" meaning, while trying to explain the apparent meaning.
This Paasuram is done as if there is a dialogue between the Gopikas and the Gate Keeper of Shri Krishna's house. After waking up all the girls (as explained earlier and in the introduction of today's paasuram) the Gopikas are in front of Shri Krishna's house and are trying to get entry and asking the permission of the gate keepers and requesting the gatekeepers to open the door and let them in.
They are in front of Shri Krishna's mansion which is decorated by Shri Krishna so that the Gopikas can easily identify the house as most of the houses in Aayarpaadi are similar and by the time the Gopikas will come it wont be bright enough for them to distinguish. So Shri Krishna got the house decorated to help the Gopikas. kodithondrum thoorana vaasal/கொடிதோன்றும் தோரண வாசல்.
naayaganaai ninDra/நாயகனாய் நின்ற - Here while addressing the gaurds, Aandal addresses them as Naayagan - a word typically used to the master. Here our Poorvacharyas explain this by saying that Aandal is keeping up her words in the second paasuram seyyaadhana seiyoom/செய்யாதன செய்யோம்.
Karma, Gyana and Bhakthi maarg, as per Sri Vaishnava Sampradhaya, even though are means, are not to be considered as the means to attain Moksha, but to have Sri/Periyapirattiyar as Purushakaaram/recommending person to Emberuman to attain Moksha. Here the Gate Keepers are the Purushakaari/Recommending Person and hence they are reffered to with respect. Also just like in the real world, when someone presents someone else a stone, the respect to the presenter from the one who received it increases as the receiver gets to know more about the value of the item presented. ஒருவன் ஒரு ரத்னத்தைகொத்த்தால் அதன் விலை அறிய அறிய, கொடுத்தவன் மேல் பிருப்பம் பிறக்கும் போலே.
Nandhagopanutaiya kooyikl/நந்தகோபனுடைய கோயில் : Here instead of addressing the house as Shri Krishna's house, the Paasuram says Nandhagopan's house. Again our Poorvacharyars explain this wonderfully. Shri Krishna, even though is Swathanthran (only free person), because of the same Swathanthra (no one can question Him why He does what He does), becomes Parathanthran/பரதந்த்ரன் (dependent) to Adiyars. The same is true in both Paramapadha, where He is Parathanthran to Nithyasooris like
a) Thiruvanandhaazhvan - Stays under Him
b) Thiruvadi/Garudan - Depends on Him to travel
c) Senaimudhaliyar - Stands below his Stick (செங்கோல்)
and in Bhooloka (Earth), when He is born as Sri Rama, or Sri Krishna does so to be dependent and to display His Kalyana Gunangal which he cannot display in Paramapadham becomes dependent to adiyars.
And so, to keep the purpose of His Avatar true, and to tell that He is dependent on Nandhagopan in this Avatar as a son (Nandhagopan Kumaran/நந்தகோபன் குமரன்) which is how He wishes to be referred, His mansion here is also referred to as Nandhagopanudaiya Koyil/நந்தகோபனுடைய கோயில்.
Let me try to explain the rest as a conversation between the Gopikas and the Gate Keeper (Gaurd).
Gate Keeper: Hey Gopikas! What are you doing at this early hours when it is dark?! Arent you afraid of anything?!
Gopikas: Hey Respected Gaurd!! This is not a land where someone needs to be fearing. This is a land where Shriman Narayanan has born as Shri Krishna. Moreover we are little girls and why do we need to have any fear at all. aayar siRumiyaro/ஆயர் சிறுமியரோ.
Gate Keeper: Little Girls! Which world are you in?! Did you think you are living in the Krutha Yuga in Ayodhya, where you are ruled by the great Maharaja Dasharatha, with able ministers like Vasishtars, with sons like that of lions and tigers (Shri Rama, Shri Lakshmana, Shri Bharatha and Shri Kshathurugana), and where even the little plants the tiniest of them is full of love for Shri Rama?!! This is not Ayodhya, where every person was a "good" person and there was no theives or no sorrows. You are living in Dwapara Yuga, which resulted in the Kali Yuga, where bad things are seen everywhere. You are living in Aayarpaadi, a place of Nandhagopan, who is a very soft natured person. You are living in a place where Shri Krishna, is a small child!! You are living in a place which is constantly attacked by Kamsa, the demon. Kamsa has attemtped many times to hurt Shri Krishna. We have to doubt even the small shurbs which could be an Asura who is in that form to hurt Shri Krishna! So in such a case arent you supposed to be afraid?!
Gopikas: We understand what you say, but you see, we are just little girls!! Why should we be afraid?
Gate Keeper: True! But even Surpanaka is a female!! Even now if someone thinks of her, one feels butteflies in the stomach. Just because there was no Gate Keeper in Panchavati is why she could cause sorrow to Shri Rama and Sita Piratti.
Gopikas: She was a Rakshasi, but we are girls who are born as Aaichimar (one who makes a living by rearing cows). How can you compare Surpanaka with us?!
Gate Keeper: Is there a difference between Rakshashis and Gopikas? Bhoothanai, a Rakshashi, came in the form of a Gopika!!! Ever since she came in with an attempt to kill Shri Krishna we are concerned. How do we know if that Kamsa, is not sending more of such Rakshashis in the form of Gopikas?!
Gopikas: Bhoothanai was a older female. We are young and little girls. Please look at our structure. Are you fearing us as someone who is a Rakshashi?! Please do not delay and let us in (Manikkadhavam thaal thiravai/மணிக்கதவம் தாள் திரவாய்)
Gate Keeper: All right. But why have you come here? What are you going to do inside? Let me know that!
Gopikas: We are here to get the Parai ( a drum like instrument) for the Vrath from Shri Krishna. We had asked Him yesterday and He had asked us to come here early in the morning to get that. So please let us in so we can get that?! (araiparai maayan maNivaNNan nennale vaay nerndhan/அறைபறை மாயன் மணிவண்ணன் நென்னலே வாய் நேர்ந்தான்)
Gate Keeper: I cant trust what you are saying?! If He had asked you to come early in the morning, He would have informed us as well. He hasnt done so. I am after all a gaurd. I am not here to send anybody who comes in without checking their identity and motive. As I cant confirm or understand the purity in your words please come a little later and when Shri Krishna is awake I will check with Him and let you in.
Gopikas: Do not say such harsh words (vaayal munnam munnam aaTRaadhe/வாயால் முன்னம் முன்னம் ஆற்றாதே) Do you want to check our purity (in thought and deeds) We are here with pure intentions. (thuuyoomaay vandhom/தூயோமாய் வந்தோம்).
Here our Poorvacharyas quote from Shri Ramayana and Mahabaratha. When Vibheeshana came in to perform Sharanagathi to Shri Rama, he came is as is and has not come in after taking bath or after performing rituals to make him pure. His intentions was "PURE" and so he came as is, just like we are here, and Shri Rama accepted Him.
In Mahabaratha, Arjuna listened to Thirumanthraartham amdist killers in a warfield.
prapaththikku dhesa niyamamum kaala niyamamum prakaara niyamamum adhikaara niyamamum pala niyamamum illai (28) Srivacahna bhooshanam
vishaya niyamame uLLathu (29) Srivacahna bhooshanam
Gate Keeper: You say that you are here to get the Parai, so you are here for some returns (prayojananthraparar/ப்ரயோஜநாந்த்ரபரர்)!! Then tell me the truth! What are you going to do inside? Based on that I will make a decision!
Gopikas: We are here to wake Shri Krishna up (Thiruppallieazhutha/திருப்பள்ளி எழுச்சி பாட) We said that we are here to get the Parai as just a "reason" to see Him, but we are here only to see Him and not to get anything else from Him. Like Sita Piratti, when in the forest was looking at Shri Rama when He was asleep in Her lap wanting to just see the beauty of Shri Rama. So we are here just to see Him and wake Him up(thuyilezhapaaduvan/துயிலெழபாடுவான்). To sing Pallandu for Him, just like our dad(Periyazhwar) did!! (anannyaprayojanar/அனன்யப்ரயோஜனர்) Those who do not expect anything from Perumal except His Lotus feet.
Gate Keeper: If you say so, I trust you. But isnt it disrespect to wake someone up?!!
Gopikas: Havent you read Shri Ramayana properly?! Havent you heard that Shri Vasishtar sang :kowsalya supraja ramapoorva sandhya pravarthathe: in an attempt to wake up Shri Rama?! Havent you read the paasurams of Azhars?! The Thiruppallieazhuchi of Thondaradipodi aazhwar? :arangathamma paLLi eazhundharulaye:அரங்கத்தம்ம பள்ளி எழுந்தருளாயே!: Havent you heard Periyazhwar's paasuram :aravaNaiyaayareeRee! ammamuNNath thuyilezhaaye:அரவனையாயரேறே! அம்மமுண்ணத் துயிலெழாய்:
And even if I accept what you say, it is only true for those who are "really" sleeping. We are here to wake up someone who is "pretending" to be sleeping :uranguvaan pool yoguseidha perumaal: உறங்குவான்போல் யோகு செய்த பெருமாள்: So what we are trying to do is not disrespect but we are just following the footsteps of our elders :seiyadhana seiyom:செய்யாதன செய்யோம்:
Gate Keeper: Gopikas!! I see your determination and your purity. Please open the door yourselves and get inside. (manikkadhavam thaal thiravaai/மணிக்கதவம் தாள் திறவாய்)
Gopikas: Hey Gaurd!! Thank you for understanding but it is not right for us to open it and please open it yourselves with your holy hands. When Shri Vibheeshnaazhwan came for Sharanagathi, Sugreeva Maharaja stopped him and opposed his sharanagathi, while Hanuman agreed to the act. But when Shri Rama accepted Vibheeshnan's Sharangathi He sent out Sugreevan to receive Vibheeshnan, the one who opposed and not Hanuman, the one who was in favour. So since you first opposed our entry first, it is only appropriate for you to open the doors for us. (nii neeya nilaikkadhavam niikku/நீ நேய நிலைக்கதவம் நீக்கு).
adinaayen ramanuja dasan.
